## Discrepancy

EXPERIENCE AN AIR TURN BACK WITH SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT DUE TO A DAMAGED ELECTRICAL CORD (P/N 1A258-0289) FOR THE FIRST OFFICERS POWERED SEAT, P/N 3A258-0042-01-2 (PICTURES ATTACHED). DUE TO THE EVENT UPS HAS BEGAN A FLEET WIDE INSPECTION OF THE SEATS INSTALLED ON 747 AIRCRAFT. THE INSPECTION IS NOT COMPLETED ACROSS ALL 43 AIRCRAFT, BUT WE HAD TWO ADDITIONAL FINDINGS ON THE POWER CORD ALREADY. I WANT TO STATE THESE ALL SEATS HAD BEEN INSTALLED FOR OVER 5 YEARS AND WE BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN IN SERVICE ISSUE.
