DFW - CREW REPORTED BATTERY CHARGER EICAS STATUS MESSAGE ON CLIMBOUT.  EMERGENCY DECLARED FLIGHT RETURNED DFW LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.  AIRCRAFT REMOVED FROM SERVICE.  REPLACED MAIN AIRCRAFT BATTERY.  SYSTEM GROUND CHECK NORMAL OPERATION.
