## Discrepancy

AIRCRAFT WAS GROUNDED: AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED ON APPROACH INTO JFK DUE TO THE FLIGHT CREW REPORTING THAT SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM SEAT CUSHION 2A, WATER BOTTLES WERE POURED ON SEAT CUSHION. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT JFK SAFELY AND TAXIED TO THE GATE UNDER ITS OWN POWER. MAINTENANCE FOUND A CELL PHONE STUCK IN THE SEAT WHICH WAS MANGLED DURING SEAT MOVEMENT WHICH WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE AND REMOVED THE DAMAGE CELL PHONE. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE SEAT CUSHION, AIR BAG AND SEAT COVER PER AMM 25-51-58 DUE TO BEING DAMAGED DURING THE EVENT.
