ON PREFLIGHT HAD A STATUS LEVEL L ENG FIRE LP1 THRT WOULD NOT CLEAR. MTX GROUNDED A/C AND PERFORMED OPS CHECK OF FIRE OVHT. MSG CLEARED.  AIRCRAFT REMAINS NO ETOPS IAW B767 AMM 26-11-00. OPS CHECK GOOD. MTX RETURNED A/C TO SERVICE.
