WHILE ON APPROACH TO LANDING, LANDING GEAR WAS PLACED IN THE DOWN POSITION.  SYSTEMS INDICATED THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT SECURE.  RETURNED TO BASE AND NOTIFIED MAINTENANCE.  (K)
