SMOKE WAS REPORTED IN COCKPIT.  ACFT RETURNED TO GATE AND NR 1 PACK WAS PLACED ON MEL. MAINTENANCE R & R NR 1 ACM WITH OPS CHECK GOOD.  ACFT WAS APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.
