## Discrepancy

ON TAKEOFF OUT OF PHL, LEFT ENGINE STARTED SURGING RETURNED TO BASE WITH NO PROBLEMS.  MAINTENANCE FOUND THE LEFT MAGNETO DEAD.  REMOVED AND REPLACED MAGNET, OPS CHECKS GOOD.
