FLT CREW ADVISED IN FLT FLAP LE TRANSIT LIGHT ON. ATTEMPTED RESET PER FLIGHT MANUAL, NO HELP LOCKING LOG, WILL NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT TROUBLESHOOT PER FIM 27-88 TASK 803 AND PERFORMED BITE OF FSEU, FAULT 27-81214.  OUTBOARD PROXIMITY SENSOR (S1008) SHOWS FAR GAP WITH SLATS RETRACTED.   REMOVED NR 8 L/E SLAT POSITION SENSOR.  REF AMM 27-88-11-000-801. INSTALLED LEADING EDGE SLAT PROXIMITY SENSOR S1008 REF AMM TASK 27-88-11-400-801.OPC STILL REQUIRED.   PERFORMED OPERATIONAL CHK OF THE S8 OUTBD LE SLAT PROX SWI REF MM TASK 27-88-11-700-801. SYSTEM GND CHKS GOOD.
