BATTERY CHARGER FAULT AND CB TRIP MESSAGES WHILE SITTING AT GATE, BURNING SMELL IN COCKPIT AND FORWARD CABIN. OPENED MID E& E -FOUND STRONG BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL. REPLACED #2 BATTERY CHARGER PER A220 AMP 24-32-02. TEST PASSES. MSI WORK CARDS 0550-2001 AND 0550-2003 C/W ON LOG 8740269. (LP# 8740268; AIRCRAFT WAS GROUNDED)
