AT CRUISE,  ODORS & ELECTRIC ACRID ODORS. TURNED CABIN FANS OFF AS WE HEARD A HIGH WHINE SOUND. LASTED 3-5 MINS THEN DISSIPATED. . DISCOVERED CAPTAINS ELECTRIC MOTOR TO CHAIR WASN'T WORKING.   INSPECTED FLT DECK & FWD AVIONICS BAY, FOUND C/B FOR CAPT CHAIR POPPED, NO ODOR PRESENT. DEFER CAPT ELECTRIC ADJUSTMENT, M PROCEDURE C/W, INSTALLED PLACARD. ACFT OK TO CONTINUE ON MEL. REF AMM 05 -51. (LP: 9587640, AIRCRAFT WAS GROUNDED)
