## Discrepancy

DURING CLIMB, CREW NOTICED SMOKE SMELL IN FLIGHT DECK.  AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO STATION, NORMAL LANDING ACCOMPLISHED.  INVESTIGATION REVEALED SHORTED ATC TRANSPONDER CONTROL PANEL.  REMOVED PANEL, SECURED HARNESS AND RETURNED AIRCRAFT TO MAINTENANCE BASE.  (M)
