## Discrepancy

FUEL ODOR CLIMBING OUT OF AIRPORT. AFTER AN IMMEDIATE RETURN TO THE AIRPORT THE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL CAP WAS SECURELY LOCKED, HOWEVER FUEL WAS VISIBLE AROUND THE EDGE OF THE CAP AND ON THE AIRFRAME. A CLOSER INSPECTION OF THE CAP SHOWED THAT, ALTHOUGH APPEARING PROPERLY SECURED, THE ADJUSTMENT WAS LOOSE ENOUGH THAT THE CAP COULD BE INSTALLED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO ALLOW FUEL TO ESCAPE. ONCE DISCOVERED THIS WAS NOTICEABLE BOTH VISUALLY AND TACTILELY. THE CAP WAS SECURED CAREFULLY AND THE FLIGHT PROCEEDED BACK TO BASE. THE FUEL CAP WAS WRITTEN UP AND A MECHANIC WAS CALLED IN. THE MECHANIC TIGHTENED THE ADJUSTMENT ON THE CAP TO PREVENT THE ISSUE.
