FLT 5436 - SPI - NR 1 ENGINE SHUTDOWN IN FLIGHT.  MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED THE NR 1 ENGINE DUE TO INTERMEDIATE GEAR BOX FAILURE.
