ON LEFT ENG SHUTDOWN; FUEL FLOW DROPPED DOWN INITIALLY THEN CAME UP; THEN DISPLAYED ENG FAIL AND SHUT DOWN.   REMOVED NR 1 ENGINE HMU IAW AMM 73-21-10; REMOVED NR 1 ENGINE SERVO FUEL HEATER IAW AMM 73-11-07.  REMOVED MAIN OIL/FUEL HEAT EXCHANGER IAW AMM 79-21-02. PARTIALLY REMOVED NR 1 ENGINE FUEL PUMP IAW AMM 73-11-01.  R & R NR 1 ENG FUEL PUMP PACKAGE IAW MT 773-11-00. OPS CHECKED GOOD.
