CAPTAIN'S MFD WENT BLANK ON DEPARTURE.  RETURNED TO SLC.  REMOVED AND REPLACED NR 1 MFD IAW CRJ MM 31-61-01.  OPS CHECK GOOD.  A/C RELEASED FOR CAT II OPERATION.
