d. Training Material. ICAO and IATA have jointly developed training documents in support of the provisions contained in Annex 18 to the Convention on;
International Civil Aviation. These documents have been produced to help achieve uniform worldwide level of training in all aspects of handling and transporting dangerous goods by air and particularly to assist those who are responsible for the establishment of training programs. They consist of a series of six books, each developed for training of a particular category of personnel involved in the transport of dangerous goods by air and are of the self-study type. The six books are:
Book 1: Shippers and Packers Book 2: Cargo Agents Book 3: Operators Cargo Staff Book 4: Load Planners and Cargo Handlers Book 5: Flightcrew Book 6: Passenger Handling Staff and Flight Attendants They may be obtained by contacting:

6. TECHNICAL CLARIFICATION AND INFORMATION. In order to assist the aviation community in dealing with hazardous materials transportation, Appendix 1 lists the FAA's Hazardous Materials Coordinators by regional and geographical areas. Thes e personnel may be contacted regarding specific questions dealing with the classification and/or technical aspects of the national and international regulations and their continued amendments as they relate to the transportation of hazardous materials by air. The availability of these personnel does not reduce the responsibility of the air carrier or freight forwarder in having their personnel fully trained in all aspects of hazardous materials transportation. They should be capable of providing their potential customers with the provisions and requirements of the hazardous materials transportation regulations.
