Revised 1/24/02 Airworthiness Concern Sheet
Full Name Daniel Hilton Title Aerospace Engineer Organization Wichita Aircraft Certification Office Department ACE-119W Address 1801 Airport Road, Room 100 City State ZIP Wichita, Kansas, 67209 Telephone Number (316) 946-4173 E-mail Daniel.Hilton@faa.gov Make, Model, Series, Serial No.: Cessna 208, Serial Numbers 208000001 through 20800415, Cessna 208B, Serial Numbers 208B0001 through 208B1299 Reason for Airworthiness Concern: Wire chaffing identified on wiring bundles in aircraft wings containing anti ice auto-control, fuel quantity indication and low fuel annunciation.
Date: 02/04/08 FAA Description of Airworthiness Concern (Who, What, Where, When, How? Attachments: RA and appropriate data) Chaffed wiring has been found on wire bundles located in the left and right hand wings containing the Auto–Control Wing De-Ice System, Fuel Quantity Indication, and Low Fuel Annunciation on the Cessna 208B. The cause has been attributed to improper wire bundle supporting hardware. Chaffed wiring in the affected bundles can lead to a potential unannunciated loss of low fuel annunciation or misleading fuel quantity indications. Additionally, the auto-mode control for the wing de-ice system could potentially be inoperative. The manual mode for operation of the anti-ice system is in separate bundles and not effected by this airworthiness concern. It is anticipated that Cessna Aircraft will be releasing service bulletin CAB08-2 for this issue by 02/04/08.
This service bulletin will instruct the owners/operators to inspect and repair/replace as required, wiring associated with this issue.
Request for Information (Proposed Alternate Inspection/Repair Procedures, Cost Impact, Etc. Note: Any comments or replies to the FAA need to be as specific as possible. Please provide specific examples to illustrate your comments/concerns.):
Please provide us with additional information, which may affect the airworthiness action taken by the FAA. This includes comments regarding the attached Cessna Service Bulletin and any additional findings, accidents/incidents, or service difficulties pertaining to this airworthiness concern.

The resolution of this airworthiness concern could involve an AD action or an SAIB, or the FAA could determine that no action is needed at this time. The FAA’s final determination will depend in part on the information received in response to this ACS.
The FAA endorses dissemination of this technical information to all manufacturers and requests association and type clubs comments.
