Revised 1/24/02 Airworthiness Concern Sheet

Full Name Erik Brown Title Aerospace Engineer (electrical) Organization FAA Department ACE-119W Address 1801 Airport Rd, Room 100 City State ZIP Wichita, KS 67209 Telephone Number 316-946-4132 E-mail erik.brown@faa.gov Make, Model, Series, Serial No.: Hawker Beechcraft Model 390 Premier I/IA, Serials RB-1, RB-4 through RB-238.

Reason for Airworthiness Concern: The FAA has received a report from the manufacturer of potential wiring installation errors. These potential wiring errors could prevent proper annunciation of the CABIN ALT HI annunciator and automatic deployment of the cabin oxygen masks.

Date: 19 May 2008 FAA Description of Airworthiness Concern :

There is a concern that the electrical connections of the barometric pressure switches have the potential of being incorrectly connected or may become inadvertently disconnected. In the event of a cabin altitude high (low cabin pressure) condition, this configuration could result no annunciation in the cockpit and no automatic deployment of the cabin oxygen masks.

Request for Information : We are currently evaluating what corrective action is appropriate. The airplane manufacturer has issued a mandatory service bulletin (SB 21-3899, May 2008). SB 21-3899 instructs operators to modify the cabin barometric pressure switch and cabin altitude high switch installations, and perform a functional test of the switches and related systems. The airplane manufacturer has requested this be enforced with an Airworthiness Directive which mandates the service bulletin.

Please direct all comments/input to Erik Brown at the Wichita Aircraft Certification Office no later than May 29, 2008. (Contact information above)

At this time, the FAA has not made a determination on what type of corrective action (if any) should be taken. The resolution of this airworthiness concern could involve an AD action or an SAIB, or the FAA could determine that no action is needed at this time.

The FAA’s final determination will depend in part on the information received in response to this ACS.

The FAA endorses dissemination of this technical information to all manufacturers and requests association and type clubs comments.
