From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft wheel found floating in lake. Pilot had been known to skip wheels on lake. Wreckage, and bodies not found. Amended date: 06/13/2008 on January 27,1984, N3829D, a Beechcraft skipper BE-77, departed the tradewind airport (ktdw) in amarillo, Texas for a two hour local flight operated by privacy data omitted with passenger privacy data omitted aboard. The aircraft never returned. On January 28, 1984 the right wheel of the aircraft was found floating in lake meredith near Fritch, Texas, matched the part number from the missing aircraft. On January 29, 1984 a jacket similar to one worn by the pilot was found floating in the lake. A search was conducted from January 28 to February 2, 1984 with no success. On may 31, 2008 the aircraft wreckage was discovered in lake meredith and reported to the U.S. Park service, who also notified the NTSB. The only restraints found were two lap belts and the pilot's shoulder harness, all of which showed signs of stress. Eyewitness reports indicate seeing an aircraft making numerous low passes over the lake. In an airport breakroom sometime before the accident occurred a commercial pilot overheard the pilot, privacy data omitted, bragging bout skipping his wheels in lake meredith. The remains of the pilot and passenger have not been found.
