From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on January 05, 1995, at 1330 CDT a Cessna, CE-152-152, us registry N5523M made an emergency landing in a hay field 3 miles north of the junction of highways 45 and 29 near the town of wittenburg, shawano county, Wisconsin. The aircraft touched down and rolled to a stop. The aircraft was not damaged and the private pilot and one (1) passenger were not injured. The flight, conducted under 14CFR part 91, originated at greenwood/wonder lake-galt (10C), Illinois on January 5, 1995, with the destination being rhinelander, Wisconsin, stopping at juneau, Wisconsin and departing juneau, Wisconsin at approximately 1200 CST. The emergency landing was precipitated by a rough running engine. The pilot, suspecting carburetor icing, pulled the carburetor heat. The engine ran smoother then deteriorated, losing power. As the engine power deteriorated the aircraft was losing altitude. The forced landing was made without incident. After landing the pilot ran the engine to full power without difficulty. Maintenance personnel inspected the aircraft and engine in the field and determined it was safe for flight. The aircraft was flown from the field to its home base where maintenance personnel again inspected the airframe and performed further tests on the engine. No defects were noted. This incident and report are closed.
