From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on February 14, 1995, a Sikorsky S76A helicopter, experienced a binding in the anti-torque pedals. The pedals subsequently went full left deflection. The aircraft was flown to Patterson, Louisiana, where a successful precautionary landing was accomplished. The flight originated at green canyon, block 18, in the Gulf Of Mexico, at 11:00 a.m., on February 14, 1995. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the incident and company flight following procedures were in effect. The aircraft was not damaged. The two pilots and three passengers were not injured. A preliminary investigation suggests that the teflon coating on the stainless steel anti-torque control shaft had disbanded in a small area. The investigation is continuing.
