From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot stated that he was attempting to land at detroit metropolitan airport (dtw). He observed that his nose gear down and lock light was illuminating. A quick check of the light indicated that the light bulb worked. Then, he made a fly by the airport tower and a controller indicated that the nose gear appeared to be trailing. He landed on the main gear and when the aircraft began to settle down on the nose gear, he decided to return home to Griffith, IN (05C). Detroit tower notified the operations center great lakes region and the operations center notified sbn FSDO of the incident before the aircraft reached Griffith, IN. The investigation revealed that the nose gear push pull tube was bent preventing the nose gear down and lock light from illuminating. A malfunction and defect report was filed. This incident is closed.
