From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: about two miles east of west cameron 280, Gulf Of Mexico, the aircraft yawed to the right and a metal-to-metal noise could be heard. The pilot lowered the collective (power) and checked the engine instruments. The no. 2 engine torque was "0", and the no. 2 engine T4 and ng were lower than the no. 1 engine. The pilot retarded the no. 2 engine throttle to idle, then shut down the no. 2 engine. The pilot elected to land at west cameron 280 due to the noise. There was no further damage to the aircraft, and there were no injuries to passengers or crew. Maintenance discovered that the disk coupling at the transmission end of the input drive shaft (between the no. 2 engine and the transmission ) had failed. A malfunction or defect report will follow.
