From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: 1) N376LC was taxiing toward the approach end of runway 17 (right) with the stated intention of departing VFR direct to new iberia, LA. 2) when turning right into a designated run-up area the pilot taxied over what appeared to be standing water on the prepared surface. The perceived 'water' was revealed as a hole in the paved surface with a soft bottom of mud. 3) when the nose landing gear wheel entered the hole it sunk up to approximately the center line or the wheel and made abrupt contact with the edge of the hole and the hard surface of the run-up area. The nose landing gear fork with the associated wheel and tire broke off at the point of attachment to the nose landing gear shock strut. 4) subsequent from separating from the nose strut the fork, wheel, and tire bounced off the hull of the aircraft and came to rest approximately 15 feet from the nose of the aircraft at the 1 o'clock position. 5) as of the date of this report no other damage to this report has been determined.
