From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot statement: I was giving instruction to Mr. Terry waspey towards his commercial single. After the first touch and go, we decided to make a full stop landing. Like I normally do, I taught him to lower the landing gear lever on downwind and check for 3 green lights with the landing gear indicator lights and verified myself. On short final made him check again for 3 greens and gear lever down and verified myself. There was no indication of gear problems at all during the flight. As we touched down and rolled, about 200 to 300 feet, suddenly one of the main gears collapsed and the aircraft went to the left; there was nothing I could do about that. I didn't expect that problem at anytime. Inspector's comment: pilot and two witnesses aboard the aircraft claimed they had three green lights before landing and landing gear collapsed after landing. This inspector had the aircraft placed on jacks on 4/6/95 and tested landing gear system. Landing gear retracted and extended faultlessly. This report and investigation closed.

As the FAA filed it
