From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: PIC (Mr. White) stated while enroute to W13 stanto, VA at a cruise altitude of 5,500 ft. he heard a loud bang. Subsequently the engine began running rough and vibrating. Because the nearest airfield was 10 miles away the PIC elected to land on highway 80. There was no damage to aircraft and no injuries. Investigation: revealed the #2 top spark plug threads filed allowing the plug to depart from the cylinder resulting in the engine vibration. The #4 top plug was found to be loose but had not backed out. Filing of this report closes the investigation.
