From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot stated fuel exhaustion caused by double problem. Owner/operator discovered possible fuel gauge problem on way to intended spray application area and also found a problem with fuel transfer valve on fuel truck. Compliant attitude displayed by pilot during counseling. After spraying two loads, pilot refueled with what he thought was approximately 25 gal of fuel. On termination of third load, last pass, pilot started turn back to truck when engine quit. He auto rotated to ground. Bending rear cross tube and cracking rear skid leg. A crack was also found in fiberglass spray tank. Upon inspection found fuel pumping system on truck to be faulty, not allowing the expected 25 gal of fuel to be pumped aboard acft. Upon inspection of acft fuel gauge, found broken wire on aft sending unit.
