From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-16) The statement from the pilot (paul adessa) claimed he was making a normal landing into centennial airport, Englewood, CO. On runway 35L. He identified the two whites and two reds, made a slight crosswind correction then set down both mains and then the nose gear normally. The PA-28-180 then started veering to the right whereas he corrected with left rudder and upon this maneuver the nose gear collapsed and the aircraft continued down and off the end of the runway. The aircraft sustained damage to the propeller, the underside fuselage and wing tips. Upon examination by flight service maintenance personnel there was also damage to the right spar. The maintenance department did not find any evidence of a brake failure, control failure or gear failure upon assessment in shop. An observer to this occurrence stated the aircraft was "porpoising" prior to landing and that the aircraft was not lined up on the center line.
