From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on October 14, 1995, at approximately 3:15 p.m., during a VFR local pleasure flight, the engine lost power. The pilot landed the aircraft in a soy bean field, causing minor damage to the nose gear. The pilot was not injured. This incident is closed. Subsequent investigation revealed that the engine seized due to oil starvation caused by a plugged oil tank vent. By removing the oil tank to engine oil supply line and the oil tank cap, this allowed the oil to flow normally. The tank was properly serviced with oil. A modification to the tank cap gasket is being made to correct this problem.

As the FAA filed it
