From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on November 3, 1995, aircraft N311VA, a Boeing 737-200, owned and operated by viscount air services, inc., was reconfigured from 122 seats down to 44 seats to support the San Antonio spurs. The takeoff from San Antonio was normal. At about 9000 ft., the captain was notified that a seat occupied by two players (chuck person & del demps) had flipped backward and slid aft. The aircraft was turned around and landed back in San Antonio. The captain requested medical assistance for the two players. The sat fire department came on the aircraft and examined Mr. Person. He was carried off the aircraft and transported to the hospital. His seat mate did not appear hurt and was walking around, however, he did go to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The seat in question was removed from the aircraft and sent to the company for evaluation. No defects could be found with the seat. However, viscount elected to take all weber seats out of service. The new seats to be used are putman company seats (ptc). Evaluation of the aircraft seat tracks showed no evidence of excessive wear nor damage. Incident closed.
