From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on November 4, 1995, united flight 1429, denver, Colorado to Portland, Oregon, experienced failure of the b hydraulic system while on final approach to pdx. The crew discontinued the landing, did a go-around, and landed at 1437 PDT. After landing, the tower reported that the aircraft appeared to have hot brakes. The fire department responded, and monitored the situation. The aircraft subsequently was towed to the gate area. Maintenance at pdx discovered a failed acoustic filter on the b system electric pump. The filter failure depleted the b system reservoir to approximately 3/8 of normal capacity. Maintenance at Portland removed and replaced the filter, inspected the system for contamination, and performed a leak and ops check. The aircraft was returned to service on November 5, 1995.
