From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: nwa 389 was issued a go-around while on short final to rwy 5R at "cle", due to a coa 584 (737) still on departure roll. The controller issued the nwa 389 to turn left 320 heading, climb to 4000', and the coa 584 to turn right to 095 degrees. Nwa 389 initially took the coa 584 clearance and turned right. When the controller sees the aircraft converging, he loses all control and starts yelling headings out. The nwa 389 sees coa 584 on his "TCAS" and makes a hard right turn and descends to clear the traffic. Both aircraft were "IMC" with a 300 foot ceiling. Cle ATCT received an operational error. The northwest captain filed a near mid air. Incident closed by submission of report.
