From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: elevator trim stuck in takeoff position when departing lewiston, Montana. Pilot experienced elevator control problems and diverted to VFR conditions, ultimately landing at grand forks, ND. The maintenance technician that repaired the discrepancy submitted an FAA form 8010-4 (m or d). He reported that the elevator actuator (Cessna part #1263238-2) had frozen in flight and would not operate. After warning it operated but was sticky. Trim actuator was cracked and dirty. It appeared that it had not been serviced per Cessna service instruction. The actuator was replaced. The technician recommends that the actuator be maintained on a regular basis per the Cessna service manual.
