From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on December 12, 1995, at 1630 PST a Beechcraft C-90, N494JY, operated by iasco training center, Napa, California, lost the right wheel assembly while conducting touch and go landings at redding municipal airport, redding, CA. The instructor pilot elected to return to Napa, CA to execute a gear up landing. The instructor pilot, student pilot, and passenger were not injured. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the bottom area of the fuselage. After the aircraft was raised off the runway, the right gear was inspected. This inspection revealed the cotter pin, wheel nut and spacer were still attached to the landing gear spindle. The wheel assembly was analyzed and a preliminary determination was made. It was determined that the wheel bearing outer race had loosed its pressed fit and allowed the outer race to rotate in the wheel assembly. This caused the grease to deteriorate and the bearing to seize.

As the FAA filed it
