From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on December 22, 1995 at approximately 1450 hours, a Cessna CE-182, N3806D, piloted by larry witte, a private pilot and his passenger (wife) experienced some difficulties while attempting to land with a cross wind on runway 10 at the new Castle county airport, Wilmington, DE. Just prior to touch down, a gust of wind caused the left wing to raise forcing the aircraft onto the runway, the pilot heard the prop strike (nick) the runway and he pulled back on the yoke, the aircraft bounced and the pilot initiated a go around. He contacted the tower and landed on runway 32 without further incident. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a VFR flight plan had been filed. Neither pilot or his passenger were injured and the aircraft received only minor damage. The pilot stated he had selected runway 10 initially because the ATIS was reporting poor stopping on runway 32 due to large ice patches, and no ice on runway 10. privacy data omitted Incident closed.

As the FAA filed it

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ INCIDENT CLOSED.
