From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft departed rwy 17R okc. Pilot noticed gear unsafe indication for nose landing gear during retraction and cycled gear several times. Pilot performed manual gear extension procedure, but still had gear unsafe indication. Pilot made low approach to runway 17R and control tower personnel observed that nose landing gear was trailing and not fully extended. Pilot landed on runway 17R, touching down on main wheels only, pulling both stop/feather levers for propellers, and holding nose wheel off runway as long as possible. Damage limited to propeller blade tips, radome and nose landing gear doors. Inspection revealed nose gear retraction link broken just above lower attachment point. Aircraft logs do not reflect any history of nose landing gear problems, and cause of gear failure not yet identified. Mechanic Will advise when cause is identified so that a malfunction or defect report can be completed.
