From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: while instructing student for aerobatics flight in S-2B, pilot reports engine "sputtered" and stopped operating. The pilot Ms. Dagmar kress managed to safely land N317JK without damage or injury to herself or her student nor anyone else or any property. Landing was accomplished on a remote gravel road. The student was transported via helicopter back to fxe and Ms. Kress was subsequently unable to identify the source of failure of the engine. Her efforts were aided by two individuals who flew to the scene and were able to fuel the aircraft, restart the engine and fly 317JK back to fxe (Ms. Kress piloted the aircraft back to fxe.) Local law enforcement were on the scene and closed the area off to any possible traffic to facilitate the takeoff. As of 1/26/96 N317JK was hangared awaiting further inspection and operational checks of the engine to find the source of failure. To date, none has been found. No further action will be taken with regard to this incident.
