From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: notified by so. R.o.c. on 2/13/96 at 2107Z that a Beech 18, belonging to tol air services, inc., did a ground loop taxiing off the runway at st. thomas, U.S.v.I. After landing, knocking down a taxi light and sign. Conducted a ramp check (1622) of this airman and aircraft upon its return to san juan, p.r. after noting a small hole in the left vertical fin next to a scratch, the above pilot stated that his left brake failed causing an un-commanded right turn, striking both a taxi light and sign. He believed he struck these objects with his tail wheel. He subsequently departed st. thomas, (tist) for san juan, (sju) without correcting this discrepancy (the brake failure and the damage to the fin) or entering it in the maintenance log book. privacy data omitted
