From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: investigation of nose gear failure revealed the following: nose landing gear departed the aircraft while performing a touch and go maneuver. This incident was caused by the nose landing gear housing pin 169-810000-663, ref. Item 16, figure 206 of ipb, cracking at the three attached points on the upper end of gear housing at the engine mount assembly. These attaching bolts secure the nose wheel steering collar to the engine mount fitting and extend through the fitting and into the nose landing gear housing. Two of these three bolt holes had been cracked previously. When the last bolt hole cracked out, the landing gear departed the aircraft. This area is not accessible during inspections. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the lower engine cowl, propeller, exhaust system and engine mount lower fitting. An m & d is attached.
