From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Unable reduce power left engine at FL300. Shutdown. Landed. Unable to find cause of problem. Bird strike not cause. (-5) on 2-19-96, on a maintenance test flight to check the operation of both engines, a climb to 31,000 feet was performed to verify the engines would maintain full power. The attempt to reduce power resulted in the pilot being unable to reduce power on the left engine. The pilot shut down the left engine and landed at Greater Peoria regional airport without further incident. An emergency was declared, and no injuries to the pilot and two passengers occured. Maintenance personnel could find no discrepancy or cause for the inability to reduce power on the left engine. The fuel controls for both engines were removed and sent to the manufacturer for analysis.
