What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: American airlines flight 723, en-route from boston to Nashville, encountered light to moderate turbulence during descent into Nashville causing minor injuries due to falling to two flight attendants preparing the cabin for landing and to one passenger returning to her seat from the lavatory. Upon encountering light turbulence at 16,500 feet, the captain turned on the seatbelt sign, and when the intensity of the turbulence increased at 12,000 feet, he made a pa announcement while descending through 11,500 feet. Captain paul boyer described the turbulence as light with sudden jolts until reaching 6,000 feet when the turbulence decreased to light chop and continued to landing. Captain boyer arranged for medical assistance at the arrival gate, and flight attendant kristen osmus and passenger sandi descoteaux were taken to summit medical center where their injuries were determined to be minor. Flight attendant molly hooper refused medical attention at the arrival gate, and flight attendant charla gass did not require medical care. American airlines maintenance started a severe turbulence inspection of the aircraft, but when captain boyer advised the company that the turbulence had only been light to moderate, the inspection was terminated. Because this occurrence was not classified as an accident, neither the FDR nor the CVR was pulled.
