From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft arrived from south county airport (Q99) for a practice landing and taxi back for takeoff on runway 29. Pilot-in-command stopped in run-up area to consider the wind, but thought he could make it. After being cleared for takeoff, PIC started full power takeoff roll. After aircraft had gained some speed, the PIC felt uneasy about the wind and aborted take-off. After he reduced power, he said, "a gust of wind pushed the airplane off the runway." The aircraft proceeded into the grassy area between runway 29 and 30L. Before the pilot could stop the airplane, it hit an information sign and damaged the left wing leading edge. The investigation has been coordinated with operations for follow-up with Mr. Song. No airworthiness issues were identified.
