From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the student pilot stated that he purchased the airplane in December 1995. In an attempt to familiarize himself with the airplane, he was making high speed taxi runs on runway 16 at the Vermilion County Airport, Danville, Illinois. On the last high speed run he lost control of the aircraft. The airplane turned sideways, breaking the main landing gear off and destroying the propeller. The aircraft came to rest on its belly approximately 25 feet beyond the departure end of runway 16. This incident is closed with this report.
