From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot performed a series of take-off and landings (about-9), at the Marine City Airport. The pilot indicated he did not experience any problems on the earlier flights. During the tenth landing on runway 04 all indication were normal, while taxiing to the hanger the pilot felt the left main gear starting to collapse. He immediately pulled both props into feather, then he pulled both the throttle and mixture controls to full shut-off, and turned the master switch and generators off. The plane slid to the left and came to a complete stop on a berm in the grass with the right wing-tip and tail hanging over on the edge of the runway. The only visible damage was the left outboard flap skin wrinkle, and left engine prop tips bent, and left main door bent. Failure of the main landing gear retraction and extension system is suspected. After further investigation it was determined that the left main landing gear actuator support bracket was sheered on both sides, which allowed the landing gear to retract while on the ground.

As the FAA filed it
