From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: N711SL requested a check of the landing gear after entering a left base for r/w 33 at Groton, CT. The aircraft was instructed to execute a low approach for r/w 33. The landing gear appeared to be down and locked to the tower. N711SL was cleared to land r/w 33. The aircraft landed successfully and rolled out approximately 1/4 mile before the left landing gear collapsed. The cause of the gear collapse appears to be a corroded uplock bracket, p/n 35-815077-14. The bracket jammed against the gear when it was retracted, bending the retract rod, p/n 35-815125-602. The bent retract rod was not able to fully extend the landing gear to the down and locked position.
