From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on landing a gust of wind raised left wing and aircraft departed runway. Aircraft went through shallow ditch bending nose gear aft, at this time the leg on engine mount broke causing the throttle cable to stretch. At this point there was no control over engine r.p.m. the propeller struck the taxi-way bending tips. Engine shut down with mixture control in field. Mr. Beton was flying the aircraft from the right seat during this incident. His future plans are to be a flight instructor and wanted to practice landing from this position.
