From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot stated that on the previous day, he had encountered landing gear problems. Maintenance was called and by looking at the gear, it was diagnosed that the problem was in the left main micro switch and it needed adjustment. It was stated by the pilot and mechanic that the owner wanted the aircraft flown home from lafayette to new orleans with the gear down. The pilot stated that he departed lafayette, enroute to Rayne, Louisiana, (haynesfield) to pick up a student to go to new orleans. Upon landing at Rayne, Louisiana, the pilot stated that the nose gear collapsed on landing.
