From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On final approach yawed to left, landed, rolled into soft turf, right gear collapsed, wing tip and prop hit ground. (.4) according to the pilot, when the airplane was about 35 feet above the ground during the approach to land at the destination airport, it yawed rapidly to the left. The pilot was unable to regain directional control or perform a go-around. The pilot stated that the airplane touched down on the runway `...in a right skid, causing [eventual landing] gear failure.' The police report indicated that there was an 11 mph left quartering headwind for the active runway at the time of the accident.
