From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on June 6, 1996, at 1320 MST, a Beech 35, N3192V, landed gear-up at Gila Bend, Arizona. The aircraft received minor damage, and the private pilot received no injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed during the pleasure flight, and no flight plan was filed. The flight originated from santa rosa, new Mexico, at approximately 1250 MST. The pilot stated that during his approach to the phoenix area, his radio failed and his hand-held radio would not transmit. He decided to land at an outlying area airport and selected Gila Bend. He slowed to 100 mph, lowered the gear, added 10 degrees of flaps, entered the pattern, did the gumps on downwind. During the touchdown sequence, he heard a noise and felt vibration. Afterwards, he observed that the gear doors were hanging down and the wheel wells were visible. Incident closed.
