From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft crashed into trees while on approach to runway. (-23) during landing aircraft veered to left from centerline of runway during short final and struck equipment parked to the left of the runway. Contact with the equipment caused severe damage and failure of the right wing support struts causing them to be torn from the aircraft. The right wing folded upward causing the aircraft to roll right and become inverted. The aircraft continued to the left of the runway and struck a large tree near the edge of the runway. The lower portion of the fuselage contacted the trunk of the tree directly beneath the cockpit. The aircraft was destroyed with fatal injury to the occupants. There was no post-crash fire. Aircraft operated as ultra light under asc exemption #6080.
